The National Commission for State Regulation in the Fields of Energy and Communal Services (NKREKP) made a decision on a significant increase in tariffs for the transportation of natural gas for the population.
The new tariffs will enter into force on January 1, 2025, and the cost of transportation will increase from 160 to 660 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters.
This is due to the termination of transit of Russian gas, losses from which must now be compensated by domestic consumers.
"In 2024, 85% of our income will be gas transportation from Russia. The remaining 15% is provided by internal customers. This tariff increase is not enough to fully compensate the income, but we understand the need for balanced economic decisions," said Dmytro Lippa, General Director of the Ukrainian State Railways Operator.
