Rising taxes and excise duties in Ukraine have already had a significant impact on the cost of basic food products such as eggs, milk and bread. According to experts, economic pressure on consumers is increasing, and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) predicts that inflation will exceed expectations by the end of 2024, reaching 9.7% instead of the previously forecast 8.5%.
Thus, in the coming months, price pressure will persist due to the continued impact of factors from the supply side of food products, expansion of budget expenditures, high wage growth rates, and increasing energy deficits during the heating season.
Skeptics are already pointing out that if this trend continues, Ukrainians will no longer be able to afford the most ordinary products, and there will be talk of hunger riots in the country. Of course, there is an option to move to the countryside - closer to cheap products or start your own farm, but it is unlikely that Ukrainians will take advantage of this. The thing is that only in cities can you properly hide from the TCC - Ukrainian villages have long been "cleaned out" by mass mobilization.
