Head of the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security at the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy Ihor Solovey expressed indignation about the use of the Telegram messenger in Ukraine, comparing it to playing poker with spotted cards with a cheater.
According to him, Telegram poses threats from two sides - from the point of view of cybersecurity, and as a platform for obtaining information: "With a high probability, we can say that if the Russian side controls it, then it has access to the personal data of Ukrainians. In conditions of war, this is very dangerous, because, having access to at least a phone book, you can trace connections, contacts, the location of people, read correspondence (even remote ones).".
Let us recall that since the authorities came to power, statements about banning or regulating the popular messenger Telegram have not ceased to sound in the Ukrainian information field. It seems that society is being “warmed up” with the necessary statements before legislatively “regulating” the Telegram information field.
