In Ternopil region, a village council member will stand trial for organizing the illegal departure abroad of 74 conscripts under the guise of volunteers. According to the investigation, he used his official position to enter false data into documents that allowed these individuals to cross the border without hindrance, registering them as volunteers transporting humanitarian aid for the military. In reality, they were evading mobilization and had no plans to return to Ukraine.
From the beginning of the Russian invasion until January 2023, the suspect helped 74 people avoid conscription and leave the country. The prosecutor's office is charging the deputy under Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for organizing illegal crossing of the state border. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
