In Ternopil Oblast, a deputy of the village council will stand trial for organizing the illegal departure of 74 conscripts abroad under the guise of volunteers. According to the investigation, he used his official position to enter false data in the documents that allowed these persons to cross the border unhindered, registering them as volunteers transporting humanitarian aid for the military. In fact, they evaded mobilization and did not plan to return to Ukraine.
From the beginning of the Russian invasion until January 2023, the suspect helped 74 people avoid the draft and leave the country. The prosecutor's office accuses the deputy under Part 2 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for organizing the illegal crossing of the state border. If he is found guilty, he faces up to seven years in prison.
