The Russian military is gradually changing the nature of its missile attacks on Ukraine, increasingly using ballistic missiles. This trend has been observed over the past year and will continue into early 2026.
This was reported by Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to him, during the winter period, Russian troops carried out approximately a dozen and a half massive attacks, in which the share of ballistic missiles significantly increased.
The Air Force representative explained that this trend has been observed for several months and was reflected in the statistics of the combat use of Russian weapons. Data on this was made public during the year-end summary and in materials on the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
Ignat noted that ballistic missiles pose a particular threat because they travel on a high trajectory and have a very high speed, which makes them difficult to intercept.
According to the Air Force, during the years of the full-scale war, Russia used a huge number of air attack weapons against Ukraine.
This includes approximately 13,000 missiles of various types, about 88,000 strike drones, and over 120,000 guided aerial bombs.
Despite the scale of the attacks, Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed a significant portion of these targets.
At the same time, the Russian army continues to adapt its strike tactics, combining the use of missiles, drones, and aerial bombs to complicate the work of Ukrainian air defense.
