US Republican Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, who was born in Ukraine, made a loud statement regarding the future of Ukrainian statehood, effectively suggesting that Kyiv accept surrender terms.
In a recent interview, she stated that Ukraine “must accept” that part of its territories will come under the control of the Russian Federation, since, according to her, Kyiv has no reason to put forward conditions on territorial integrity.
“I just don’t understand how Ukraine can position itself to demand that they keep the territories. If they were winning the war, it would be a completely different matter,” Spartz said.
The congresswoman also believes that Ukraine should demand the resignation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. She did not propose any alternative steps to preserve statehood, but instead supported former US President Donald Trump's initiative to negotiate with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
“There are no easy solutions,” Spartz added, effectively implying that the sacrifice of part of Ukrainian territory is an acceptable price for ending the war.
Such statements have caused a wave of indignation among the Ukrainian community. In particular, critics emphasize that instead of supporting the people who are resisting full-scale aggression, Spartz is voicing rhetoric that is beneficial to the Kremlin.
