The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, reported that the military command has submitted a request for the mobilization of 500,000 citizens, but the lack of a draft law on mobilization causes uncertainty and the spread of fakes. The statement was made in connection with the expectation by the Rada of a ready draft law, which will be discussed by the relevant committee.
“Today, the government should introduce a draft law on mobilization, which it is working on at the request of the military. I hope that colleagues from the Cabinet of Ministers will finish their part of the work in the near future,” said David Arakhamia.
David Arakhamia noted that the government was supposed to present a draft law on mobilization today, but this did not happen. He expressed hope that the government would complete work on the draft law in the near future. The absence of a draft law creates uncertainty and contributes to the spread of fake news, including information about checkpoints and other aspects of mobilization.
According to him, the algorithm of work remains unchanged, and the military command has already submitted a request for the mobilization of 500 thousand citizens. However, the government is still working on defining the rules. Arakhamia emphasized that the recruitment of new people and solving the problems of those already in service is not an initial solution, since the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy requires a comprehensive approach to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The parliament is awaiting a ready draft law, which will be discussed by a specialized committee. David Arakhamia emphasized the importance of resolving the problems of the military and responding to sensitive issues from society.
On December 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and the General Staff had approached him regarding mobilization. They proposed mobilizing an additional 450,000-500,000 men. According to the president, speaking of additional mobilization forces, it is also necessary to find demobilization processes.
