Ruslan Maghamedrasulov, head of the NABU's interregional detective department, who was recently detained by the SBU, was previously one of the key employees involved in documenting businessman Timur Mindich, Ukrainska Pravda reports, citing sources in anti-corruption agencies.
Timur Mindich has been repeatedly mentioned in the Ukrainian media as close to President Volodymyr Zelensky. He was a co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio and, according to journalistic investigations, has repeatedly visited the Office of the President. In particular, in 2020, investigators recorded three of his visits, and in 2021, a celebration of Zelensky's birthday in an apartment that, according to the head of state, belongs to him, but is located in the same building as Mindich's apartment.
According to UP, it was in this apartment that NABU detectives conducted surveillance on Mindich, and Magamedrasulov actively participated in this. This fact becomes even more noticeable against the background of recent investigative actions by the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation against a number of NABU and SAPO employees, who, according to the publication's sources, were directly related to investigations into top officials from the president's inner circle.
The anti-corruption community perceives the situation as political pressure. One influential anti-corruption official commented to the Ukrainian Press: "Either the SBU will prove the validity of the suspicions, or we will be beaten for doing what we are legally obliged to do - exposing top corruption.".
NABU Director Semen Kryvonos called for evidence of the allegations, while emphasizing that even if individual employees are guilty, this cannot be a reason to destroy the entire anti-corruption system.
