A Russian film company founded by former business partners of President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Kvartal 95 Studio was registered under the name of Latvian citizen Igors Zalivskis, who has no ties to the media and worked as a handyman in Europe. This was reported by Slidstvo.Info on November 25.
According to investigators, in 2018, Zelensky announced the closure of his business in Russia. However, three companies — Weisberg Pictures, Platinumfilm, and Green Films — remained under the control of his business partners: the Shefir brothers, Andrey Yakovlev, and Mindich's company through the Cypriot Green Family Ltd. In May 2019, the Cypriot company distributed shares between these co-founders.
At the end of 2021, Latvian Igors Zalivskis became the owner of Green Family Ltd. Investigators established that his professional activities were not related to the media business: he worked as a plumber and builder in Norway and England. At the same time, Zalivskis' godmother, Marina Razumova, had collaborated with the "Kvartalivtsi" for a long time and managed Green Family Ltd until 2019.
Analysts note that the company's financial transactions in Russia were swift and opaque. For example, in December 2021, Green Films received 99.5 million rubles (over $1.3 million) from the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company, which were spent within three days.
Journalists suggest that despite the formal change of ownership, the company continues to be controlled by Zelensky's former beneficiaries, business partners. Attempts to contact them were unsuccessful: Serhiy and Timur Mindich, Andriy Yakovlev, and Serhiy Shefir did not respond, and Boris Shefir refused to comment, citing his friendship with the president.
