The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved new rules for commercial services to the population, which will come into force after the end of martial law and the full implementation of the updated law on consumer protection. The updated rules contain both improvements to existing norms and new requirements for businesses, in particular regarding accessibility for people with disabilities.
The new legislation obliges retail establishments and catering establishments to create conditions for the convenience of people with disabilities. This includes the mandatory availability of ramps, special parking spaces and the possibility of receiving assistance from the seller. In addition, mobile retail outlets must be organized in a way that does not prevent people with limited mobility from accessing transport and other facilities.
Other changes include expanding consumers' rights to receive information about products and sellers in digital format. From now on, shoppers will be able to scan QR codes placed in consumer corners to get the necessary information, and if necessary, they can request it in paper form.
The organization of trade is also being improved, in particular, stores will provide separate rooms for employees to store things. The updated rules clarify the requirements for the use of measuring instruments, which must be accurate and comply with metrology legislation.
Online stores have also undergone changes. They are now required to provide complete information about the product and the seller, as well as comply with requirements for warehouses and delivery of goods. In addition, the new rules clearly regulate wholesale trade, including through online stores.
Of particular importance is the ban on the sale of products that may resemble food but are not edible, including fruit-shaped toys, which can be dangerous, especially for children.
