Despite the calendar spring, real winter weather is being recorded in the Carpathians on May 9. According to the Mountain Rescuers of the Carpathian Region, on the top of Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi, it has been cloudy since the very morning, with heavy fog, wind gusts up to 12 m/s, and significant icing.
As of 08:25, the air temperature had dropped to -7°C. Rescuers urged tourists to refrain from hiking in the mountains due to dangerous weather conditions. Published photos from the summit confirm the harsh conditions — structures are covered in ice, and there is snow all around.
Forecasters report that a cyclone from Romania will dominate Ukraine on May 9, bringing rain to most of the central and southern regions. There will be practically no precipitation in the west of the country.
Cloudy weather with clearings is expected. Thunderstorms are possible in the eastern and southeastern regions. Winds are mainly northerly, at a speed of 5–10 m/s.
Daytime temperatures are within +8…+13°C, in the east and southeast — up to +18°C. No precipitation is expected in the Carpathian highlands, but the temperature will remain low — only +1…+6°C.
