The calendar shows the end of September, and the Ukrainian Carpathians are already recording the first signs of real winter. In the Chornohora mountain range, the temperature dropped to -3 degrees at night, and the peaks were covered with snow. This was reported on Facebook by weather observation specialist Vasyl Fytsak on September 29, accompanying the post with photos of snow-covered mountains.
According to him, in addition to the frost, strong winds from the east and northeast were also observed in the mountains at a speed of 8-9 m/s. The highlands have already been covered with the first snow blanket, and, according to weather forecasters, wet snow is possible there in the coming days.
At the same time, such frosts are not expected in other regions of Ukraine yet. According to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, on September 29, the weather in most regions will remain cool and rainy. In the western and northern regions, there will be moderate precipitation, in others - light rain mainly during the day. The night will pass without significant precipitation. The air temperature in the western and northern regions will fluctuate within the range of +9 to +14 degrees, in the central and eastern parts of the country - up to +18. In the highlands of the Carpathians, 1 to 5 degrees of heat are expected during the day.
Partly cloudy skies and rain are also forecast in the capital. Forecasters promise daytime temperatures of +11…+13 degrees. The wind will be easterly at a speed of 5-10 m/s.
The autumn coolness is gradually gaining momentum, and although most of Ukraine still remains frost-free, the Carpathians are already showing the first signs of approaching winter.
