Last night at the Luzhanka checkpoint on the border with Hungary, border guards from the Mukachevo detachment, together with customs officers, discovered an illegal attempt to export weapons.
A 54-year-old Hungarian citizen tried to take four items that had signs of cold weapons out of Ukraine in a Skoda car. During an in-depth search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers found two knives and two machetes with blades of different lengths. The weapons were carefully hidden, but thanks to the vigilance of border guards and customs officers, the smuggling attempt was uncovered.
Law enforcement officers notified the National Police of the incident. The seized weapon was sent for examination for further investigative actions.
