The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Activities recommended adopting draft law No. 11387, which significantly strengthens the accountability of officials before parliament.
What does the document provide?
-
Forced summons to a TSC meeting. The police will be able to deliver officials who ignore summonses to temporary investigative commissions without good reason. In case of resistance, measures of physical influence are provided.
-
Fines for non-appearance. For ignoring plenary sessions to which an official has been officially invited (by decision of at least 151 deputies), fines ranging from UAH 13,600 to UAH 17,000 are proposed. The minutes will be drawn up by the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus.
-
Responsibility for information. If an official provides false or incomplete data, as well as violates the deadlines for responding to requests from parliamentary committees, a fine of UAH 5,950 to UAH 8,500 is imposed.
The initiative strengthens parliamentary oversight of the executive branch and other state bodies. It should ensure that officials are required to attend meetings and respond honestly and in a timely manner.
