Court finds CCC employee guilty of extorting $2,000

The Mukachevo City District Court of the Transcarpathian region found the commander of the security department of the territorial recruitment center (TCK) guilty of accepting a bribe from the wife of a conscript. Under a plea agreement with the prosecutor, the accused must pay a fine of 85,000 hryvnias.

According to the verdict, in December 2024, a man who is on military registration submitted documents for a deferment from conscription during mobilization. His dependent father, who has a second disability group, was in his care. The conscript's wife contacted the CCC to find out the result of the documents' consideration. The employees reported that another document needed to be added.

While discussing the situation, the women were approached by the commander of the security department, Olena V., and they exchanged phone numbers. In March 2025, she informed the conscript's wife that the deferment was ready and asked for $2,000 in return. The woman contacted law enforcement and acted under their supervision. She transferred part of the money ($1,600) in foreign currency, and transferred the rest to Olena V.'s bank account.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving a bribe to influence a decision). Judge Oksana Plechyshcheva passed a verdict, finding the accused guilty and imposing a fine of 85 thousand hryvnias. The verdict can still be appealed.
