The Kyiv District Court of Odessa ruled in favor of the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odessa City Council, ordering an IDP to return UAH 75,000 of illegally received housing assistance. The case concerned a woman who registered herself and her child as IDPs through the “Diya” portal, but provided incomplete information about her place of residence during registration.
In particular, she indicated only the Shyrokiv territorial community without specifying the region and district, which caused a misunderstanding. Based on this information, she was granted housing assistance, which she was not actually entitled to receive, since the correct place of her registration was in another region. This error led to the automatic payment of assistance in the amount of UAH 5,000 per month from March 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023.
According to the case materials, the inspection established that the woman was entitled to assistance only in March and April 2022. The court ruled to recover the overpaid amount from her in favor of the city's Department of Labor and Social Policy.
