The Vyshgorod District Court sentenced the director of a contracting organization to three years in prison for embezzling 115,000 hryvnias during a major overhaul of a lightning protection system at one of the district's educational institutions. The sentence was handed down following a public indictment by the Vyshgorod District Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the director knowingly signed fictitious acts of work performed, knowing that the work was not completed in full. Based on these documents, the company received 337 thousand hryvnias of budget funds, of which 115 thousand hryvnias were misappropriated.
The court found the woman guilty of misappropriation of property by abuse of office and forgery. The sentence is three years in prison. The verdict will take effect 30 days after it is pronounced, unless it is appealed.
The case highlights the systemic problem of embezzlement of budget funds during the renovation of educational institutions. Funds that were supposed to contribute to the safety of children through the installation of lightning protection were partially misappropriated, and the court verdict is an important precedent for similar cases in the Kyiv region.
