The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to confiscate into the state's ownership elite property belonging to the family of Taras Polienko, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv. The total amount of the confiscation is 8.5 million hryvnias.
The panel of judges decided to confiscate:
-
UAH 3.6 million — the cost of a two-level penthouse with an area of 220 sq. m in the business-class residential complex "Zarechnyi";
-
UAH 4.9 million — funds received from the sale of this penthouse;
-
two parking spaces located in the same residential complex.
This involves the full recovery of the value of the property and the proceeds from its sale in favor of the state.
According to anti-corruption authorities, the family of the high-ranking official could not confirm the legal sources of income for the purchase of real estate of this level. The Supreme Court of Justice recognized the funds used to purchase the penthouse as unfounded assets and applied confiscation in accordance with the law.
Elite property in the Zarichny residential complex, one of the most expensive residential complexes in the capital, was registered in the name of the law enforcement officer's family members, but the real income of Polienko and his relatives did not significantly correspond to the value of the assets.
The court decision provides for the full confiscation of assets to the state. There is currently no information about possible appeal steps by the Polienko family.
