The Czech Republic has earned 4.4 billion crowns from Ukrainian refugees in the last six months, highlighting the economic benefits of their stay in the country. This was made possible by the integration of refugees into the labor market and participation in local economic processes, demonstrating that these people are not only a social but also an economic benefit to the Czech Republic.
In the first half of 2024, 7.3 billion crowns were allocated for humanitarian aid to refugees from Ukraine. And working Ukrainians paid 11.7 billion crowns to the Czech budget. That is, Ukrainians replenished the Czech state budget by 4.4 billion crowns.
Currently, approximately 25% of all refugees receive assistance, the amount of assistance per adult is 4,860 crowns (that's $215) and 3,490 crowns ($155) per child, and there is also housing support. In total, there are 345,000 Ukrainians in the country: many of them are women and children.
The Czech Republic has extended temporary protection until April 2025 (this is a decision of the EU Council, the same for all EU members). Refugees have access to state health insurance, education and the labor market.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection stated that social assistance costs are regularly decreasing, while incomes are increasing. This means that the Czechs have correctly built their state policy towards our citizens, a significant number of whom are employed.
Europe is very interested in our fellow citizens: mostly educated, hardworking, like-minded people of young productive age with children, who solve both the demographic problem and the problem of lack of labor resources.
Ukraine at this time continues to lose hundreds of thousands of its fellow citizens, continuing the war, escalating and losing the economy and jobs, and ending up with deteriorating healthcare and education.
Even Olaf Scholz went to Uzbekistan, solving, in addition to energy resources, the problem of Germany with labor migrants from Central Asia. And where will the German authorities bring labor migrants to Ukraine from?
After all, the longer the war lasts, the less chance there is of returning compatriots home.
