In Bukovina, the court fined Ivan Sukhar, a deputy of the Dniester District Council, for failing to provide complete information in his income declaration for 2022. According to the NACP, the elected official did not indicate 279 land plots, two residential buildings, a non-residential building, and a 2001 Volkswagen Transporter. The total value of the hidden property exceeds UAH 24 million.
The court found that the deputy, who simultaneously heads several farms, filed a declaration on June 1, 2022, stating that he did not own or use any real estate or land plots. The court did not take into account the explanation that at the time of filing the declaration he did not have access to documents confirming property rights.
Ivan Sukhar pleaded guilty. The court took into account that the accused has two dependent children, is a person with a disability of group II and a participant in hostilities. He was fined 85 thousand UAH and banned for three years from holding positions related to the performance of the functions of a representative of the authorities in state authorities or local self-government bodies.
The deputy manages several agricultural enterprises in the Khotyn district - "Glory to the Winner", "Kaplivchanka" and PE "Glory". Previously, his father Anatoly Sukhar, who during the Yanukovych era was deputy head of the Khotyn RDA, also appeared in land scandals. In 2013, Ivan Sukhar was accused of forging land lease agreements of rural residents, which was confirmed by experts from the Lviv National Research and Development Center.
This case once again emphasizes the need for control over the declarations of officials and transparency in land issues.
