Russian troops will try to break through and gain a foothold in the Pokrovska and Myrnograd areas of Donetsk region by winter, significantly increasing their forces in this direction. This was stated by the Chief of Staff of the 4th operational battalion "Force of Freedom" of the Rubizh brigade, Junior Lieutenant Mykola Hrytsenko (call sign "Odesa"), on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel.
According to him, a significant part of the Russian units on this section of the front are currently concentrated in wooded areas. At the same time, the Ukrainian officer emphasized that with the onset of persistent frosts, it will be easier to knock the enemy out of such positions.
" The amount of infantry they are sending now is huge. It is not getting smaller ," he stressed.
Hrytsenko noted that hundreds of occupiers are being destroyed in this direction every day, but the Russians are constantly bringing up new forces. According to him, this includes, in particular, convicts who are being massively recruited, as well as new regiments and units of the marines.
" Convicts of various kinds are constantly arriving, new regiments are arriving. The Marine Corps has begun to become more active on the Pokrovsky, Myrnograd, and Dobropol salients. We see how the enemy is trying to attract as many resources as possible to go as deep as possible, gain a foothold before winter, and reach the settlements ," the officer emphasized.
According to Hrytsenko, the goal of the Russian troops is to advance as far as possible before the beginning of winter, reach directly to settlements and gain a foothold in an urbanized area, where it will be more difficult to knock them out than from a frozen forest or open positions.
At the same time, Ukrainian units, according to him, continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy and are preparing for a change in fighting conditions with the arrival of winter weather.
