A British GP has warned that frequent trips to the toilet can be harmful to your health. She says bladder training can help reduce the risks and keep your bladder functioning normally.
The specialist notes that the optimal number of urinations is three to four times a day. It is important not to give in to every urge at once, but to maintain intervals of three to four hours.
" Ideally, a person should not get up at night to go to the toilet ," the doctor emphasized.
Why is this important?
If you constantly respond to the slightest urge to urinate, your brain starts sending signals more frequently. This forms a habit and creates a feeling of constant need, even when your bladder is only slightly full.
According to the expert, as the bladder fills, the feeling of urgency gradually increases. If a person gives in to the peak wave of this feeling each time, the body loses the ability to hold urine for longer. This leads to frequent night awakenings and can cause sleep disturbances and additional health problems.
For those who regularly wake up in the middle of the night or rush to the bathroom before leaving the house, doctors recommend gradually training your bladder by trying to delay going to the bathroom. This helps develop a healthier response and reduces the frequency of nighttime awakenings.
