In August 2025, Ukraine was among the European countries with the most expensive electricity for industry. According to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSOE), the average price on the day-ahead market was UAH 5,188.78 per megawatt-hour. This is the fifth highest figure among all European countries.
The most expensive electricity in August was recorded in the Baltic countries and Italy. In Estonia, a megawatt-hour cost 5,475.59 UAH, in Italy — 5,473.93 UAH, in Lithuania and Latvia — 5,468.97 UAH.
Ukraine, with an indicator of 5,188.78 UAH/MWh, was immediately behind them, ahead of Poland, where the average price was 5,101.04 UAH/MWh.
Thus, Ukrainian industry is among the most vulnerable to high energy costs in Europe. High electricity prices directly affect the cost of production, the competitiveness of Ukrainian enterprises, and the economic stability of the country in times of war.
Analysts note that the trend towards high tariffs has persisted for several months in a row. This poses the question for the government and business of finding additional compensation mechanisms, energy efficiency, and diversification of supply sources.
