The European Commission will announce a new defense industry strategy, including the integration of Ukraine and the creation of a defense innovation office in Kyiv, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said during a press conference in the capital.
“We seek to support Ukraine's defense efforts with our own. That is why we are developing a new defense industry strategy, which we will present in three weeks. This is an important step towards integrating Ukraine into our defense programs,” von der Leyen emphasized.
She also noted that the European Union intends to use the experience of the Ukrainian military gained on the battlefield. In order to strengthen cooperation, the EU will open an innovative Defense Office in Kyiv.
"We will fulfill our obligations to support defense," she added.
The prime ministers of Italy, Canada, and Belgium, as well as the former prime minister of Great Britain, also arrived in Kyiv on February 24 to express solidarity with Ukraine on the second anniversary of the Russian invasion.
