In September 2024, the Deputy Head of the Cherkasy Special Prosecutor's Office for Defense of the Central Region, Maksym Kurylo, declared property rights to an apartment in the Parkovy residential complex in Cherkasy.
The 84.9 sq m apartment cost him UAH 1.32 million, while the market value of similar apartments is twice as high. The prosecutor received the property rights from LLC “Group Azot”.
In addition, Kuryl's declarations indicate other expensive purchases. In particular, in December 2023, he bought a CF Moto CF500AU-9L ATV for UAH 314,000. Earlier, his wife Yulia purchased a Volkswagen Scirocco (2013 model) for UAH 280,000, and after the start of the full-scale war, the couple received a Nissan Qashqai (2018) for use.
The family's financial balance raises questions. In 2024, the prosecutor received UAH 1.12 million in salary and about UAH 1.32 million in gifts from his parents, while expenses for property rights and other assets reached more than UAH 2.76 million. The wife declares modest income - only UAH 106 thousand, but is engaged in a business in the field of permanent makeup, where prices for services start from UAH 2 thousand. Experts suggest that part of the income may not have been included in the declaration.
Additional questions arise regarding the family's mobilization status. Yulia Kurylo is a junior lieutenant in the reserve, but has not yet been mobilized, freely moving around Ukraine and traveling abroad.
The combination of these facts indicates possible signs of money laundering through "parental gifts" and incomplete declaration of real income.
