During a regular session of the Primorsky Court of Odessa, the prosecutor attached to the proceedings the first three volumes of the case materials regarding the murder of Odessa public figure Demyan Hanul. They include physical evidence, examination results, and items seized during the investigation, including weapons, grenades, and other explosives.
The deceased's wife Zhanna Voznyuk reported that among the case materials are examinations conducted at the scene of the murder and in the apartments rented by the suspect. Other documents are currently being reviewed by the Prosecutor General's Office before returning to court. The deceased's relatives insist on the maximum punishment for the accused Serhiy Shalaev.
"Life imprisonment is a fair punishment. He planned the murder for three months and carried it out. A person who can prepare a murder via Viber does not have critical thinking and poses a danger to others," Zhanna Vozniuk noted.
We will remind, on March 14, 2025, the murder of Demyan Hanul occurred in the Primorsky district of Odessa. The man received a gunshot wound and died on the spot. The police qualified the event as a premeditated murder committed on order. Law enforcement officers detained the alleged killer - a 46-year-old deserter. The investigation is checking the motives of the crime, including versions of the order and a possible "Russian trace."
