Rivne region resident Andriy Avdievsky, whom the investigation considers an intermediary in a bribery case involving SBU officials, was released from custody after posting bail of 988,000 hryvnias.
This was reported by the suspect's lawyer Maksym Boyko. According to him, the required amount was paid by a legal entity where Avdievskyi previously worked.
At the same time, another person involved in the case — Deputy Head of the SBU Department in Rivne Region Ihor Brika — remains in custody. The court also set bail for him in the amount of 998 thousand hryvnias, but as of now it has not been paid. The defense has filed an appeal against the decision.
According to the investigation, Brika, together with the deputy head of the SBU in Kyiv, Oleh Tokarchuk, could have extorted money from representatives of the amber business. In particular, it is about 600 thousand hryvnias, which Tokarchuk allegedly demanded for avoiding responsibility, as well as systematic payments of $ 100 per day, which, according to law enforcement officers, Brika could have received for "unhindered activity.".
The investigation believes that the transfer of funds was carried out through an intermediary, Avdievsky. According to their data, he could have been transferred 300 thousand hryvnias and 22 thousand dollars. He was detained while receiving part of the funds, after which he was reported on suspicion of aiding and abetting bribery.
All those involved in the case deny their involvement in the crime.
Earlier, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court chose preventive measures for the suspects. Avdievsky and Brik were taken into custody with the possibility of bail, while Oleh Tokarchuk was given a preventive measure in the form of bail without detention.
The case continues to be investigated.
