The Ukrainian Film Academy announced the winners of the ninth national film award "Golden Spinning Top". In the category "Best Actor" the victory went to actor Kostyantyn Temlyak for the film "BozheVilny". However, the actor soon refused the award.
The reason was a public appeal by photographer Anastasia Solovyova, who stated that Temlyak used physical and psychological violence against her. According to her, the actor repeatedly raised his hand on her, humiliated her and exerted constant psychological pressure. When she tried to break off the relationship, he threatened to commit suicide and even injured himself.
In his address, Temlyak explained the refusal as follows: "Currently, there is a situation surrounding my name that requires a personal and legal resolution. I consider it incorrect at this time to withhold the award, which is a symbol and attribute of public life. My choice is to focus on work and on honestly completing all necessary procedures."
The Academy noted that voting for the candidates was completed before the public accusations emerged. They also emphasized that Temlyak is not a member of the academy, and the rules do not allow for changes to the results after the votes are counted. At the same time, the rules may be updated in 2026.
"We sincerely regret the lack of communication. In the future, we commit to promptly informing the community about the Academy's position and actions regarding cases of behavior that may harm the reputation of the Academy and the Golden Spinning Top in the film community," the statement said.
