The construction of the first five underground schools is planned in the Zaporizhia region, three of which will be located in the city of Zaporizhia, and two more in the Zaporizhia district.
The Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, announced this today, May 1.
According to him, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved the first projects of the regional team. The total amount of subvention from the state is up to 500 million hryvnias.
Fedorov noted that these schools will become an educational platform for children from several districts of the regional center and several settlements in the region.
Tenders for construction will be announced this week.
Recall that the first underground school began to be built in Kharkiv. It was assumed that 450 children would be able to attend it, or 900 if studying in two shifts. The city's mayor, Igor Terekhov, predicted that classes would begin in March. However, construction was completed only in early April. The final preparatory work before the opening is currently underway.
