On Monday, January 5, an investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on a former deputy suspected of providing illegal benefits for assisting in making decisions regarding the development of a land plot. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported this.
The court set bail for the suspect in the amount of 66 thousand hryvnias. The SAPO noted that this is the maximum amount of bail provided for by law for this type of crime. In addition to the financial preventive measure, the person is assigned a number of procedural obligations.
In particular, the suspect is required to hand over to the relevant authorities all passports for travel abroad and other documents that give the right to cross the state border. He is also ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.
According to media reports, this is former deputy Yuriy Savchuk. As the investigation established, the head of one of the deputy factions of the Volyn Regional Council, in collusion with the head of the same faction in the Lutsk City Council, turned to the user of a land plot in Lutsk with a request to provide 30 thousand US dollars.
According to law enforcement, the money was demanded for the adoption of decisions that were supposed to provide legal grounds for the construction of an apartment building on the specified site. The pre-trial investigation documented the facts of providing and receiving part of the illegal benefit - $15,000.
The pre-trial investigation into the case is ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are establishing all the circumstances of the possible corruption offense and the circle of individuals involved.
