Former head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kyiv Region Police, Vyacheslav Syzon, who was accused of creating an organized criminal group, avoided actual imprisonment. The court took into account a plea agreement, sincere remorse, and "active cooperation with the investigation" - despite the seriousness of the crimes, which included bribery, abuse of authority, and drug embezzlement.
The scandalous case began in April 2024 in Tarashcha. Then, Sizon and two subordinates stopped a minor without a court order, threatened him and forced him to give up psychotropic drugs. Later, the substance was staged as if it had been found near the fire station. This episode was classified as an abuse of authority.
In the summer and fall of 2024, Sizon effectively headed the drug squad, which included his deputy and two other operatives. With the help of informants from Nova Poshta, the police detected drug parcels, detained the recipients, and demanded bribes from them to avoid responsibility. For example, in June in Bucha, they received $3,500 and UAH 7,500 from one of the victims, and in August, $2,800 and UAH 8,000.
The culmination was an operation on September 18 in Kyiv, during which the group appropriated drugs and cash — $7,400 and UAH 33,000.
Sizon was charged under several articles: Part 3 of Article 365, Part 3 of Article 368, Part 3 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. But on June 30, 2025, he entered into a plea agreement with the investigation, pleaded guilty, and surrendered his accomplices.
Given the presence of a minor child, remorse, prior imprisonment (from September 18 to November 14, 2024), and the relatives' posting of bail, which will be sent to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the court imposed a sentence below the minimum: 5 years suspended with a probationary period of 3 years and a ban on holding law enforcement positions.
