The main New Year tree in the capital of Ukraine may be installed on Sophia Square, but the final decision will be made at the end of November. This was stated by Viktoria Mukha, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council and head of the parliamentary committee on culture, tourism and public communications, on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
“Will a New Year tree be installed this year? This decision will be made by the Kyiv Defense Council at the end of November, taking into account the law on the peculiarities of martial law, taking into account the security situation and recommendations of relevant bodies. If this decision is made, the traditional place for installing a New Year tree is Sophia Square,” said Mucha.
She noted that, like last year and the year before, no budget funds will be spent on installing the Christmas tree.
In addition, according to her, Kyiv does not hold mass events, such as New Year's and Christmas, under martial law.
Last year, the main Christmas tree was opened on December 6 on Sophia Square.

It was decorated with heart-shaped toys in blue and gold. The tree itself was also dotted with white.
