The annual Shnobel Prize 2025 has identified the most dubious and at the same time the most amazing scientific research. The award ceremony took place this week at Boston University in the USA, and the results were published by the scientific and humorous journal Annals of Improbable Research.
This year's award winners impress with their unconventional approaches and humor:
-
A team of Japanese scientists has shown that beef cows painted with zebra stripes attract fewer flies;
-
Researchers tested which varieties of pizza lizards liked best;
-
The chemistry prize went to scientists who studied whether powdered Teflon could be used to increase the volume of food and the feeling of fullness without adding extra calories;
-
A group of scientists investigated the effects of alcohol on bats' ability to fly and navigate;
-
Others have tested the popular theory that alcohol can improve people's ability to communicate in a foreign language.
Such studies demonstrate that science can be not only serious but also fun, even when the results seem absurd.
