A revolutionary new gadget promises to make calorie tracking much easier for those trying to lose weight. The invention, which looks like a miniature pendant, is able to recognize dishes using artificial intelligence and calculate the number of calories contained in each meal. This device has the potential to become a real assistant for those who monitor their diet and want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
A new “smart” device has been launched on Kickstarter, an online platform where crafters raise money for their projects, that will help you lose weight without the tedious task of counting calories and keeping a diary. The New Atlas portal has drawn attention to it.
The device, which looks like a miniature pendant and weighs just 27 grams, is called Drop. It has a camera inside that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to record what the user is eating and transmit the data to a smartphone for further analysis.
The key feature of Drop is that it not only determines the composition of the dish, but also provides accurate data on calories, proteins, carbohydrates, etc., using learning algorithms. Over time, the device learns and calculates the nutritional value better and better.

The developers note that the accuracy of product recognition is at 92%, and the battery will last 16 hours without recharging; in fact, Drop will have to be used every day. The iOS and Android mobile application, which does not require a subscription, will not only show the collected statistics, but also provide personalized advice, recipes and even training plans.
The cost of one device on Kickstarter will be $199 (about UAH 8,000), with shipping worldwide. The release is scheduled for early 2025.
A gadget that turns a smartphone into a professional camera has previously become popular on Kickstarter. Users can manually or automatically choose between ISO settings from 100 to 12,800, set shutter speeds from 10 seconds to 1/8000 second, and white balance from 2600K to 8600K.
At the same time, Elon Musk's social network X has opened free access to its proprietary chatbot Grok for all users. The AI provides answers to text queries a little faster than ChatGPT 4o, is able to generate high-quality images and work with code.
