German police have announced the discovery of the body of a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl who disappeared on June 3 while on her way to school. The tragic incident occurred in a forest near the city of Döbeln in the federal state of Saxony.
This is reported by the German publications Bild and Frankfurter Allgemeine.
The investigation found no evidence that nine-year-old Valeria was the victim of a sexual crime. However, police are investigating a murder.
The girl and her mother arrived in Germany in 2022. According to German media, her parents are divorced. Her father is a military man fighting in eastern Ukraine.
On the morning of June 12, local media reported that a body had been found in the woods, about three kilometers from the house where Valeria's family currently lives. Police later confirmed that it belonged to the missing Ukrainian woman.
As a reminder, Ukrainian girl Valeria disappeared on her way to school in the German city of Döbeln (Saxony). More than 300 law enforcement officers, dog handlers, divers, rescuers, and a helicopter were involved in the search.
