The Cabinet of Ministers is allocating UAH 1 billion for shelter and ensuring safe conditions in hospitals. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a government meeting on Friday. It was noted that this year, funding for medicine in Ukraine is increasing, and healthcare spending in 2024 will amount to UAH 239 billion, which is UAH 31 billion more than a year ago.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of early diagnosis to reduce mortality from cancer. In this context, the government is allocating UAH 1 billion to equip shelters and create safe conditions in hospitals. In addition, an additional UAH 16 billion is being allocated to the Medical Guarantees Program, in particular, for a pilot project of free dental prosthetics for veterans.
The government also continues to develop digital tools in the healthcare sector, planning to launch an electronic patient account. This will allow Ukrainians to independently change their personal data and manage declarations with family doctors.
In the context of increasing the efficiency of medical procurement introduced through the electronic catalog, the government is considering expanding the list of medicines and medical devices that are purchased through this system. Shmyhal emphasized that this will contribute to transparency and effective use of taxpayers' funds, which are key aspects of building an effective, transparent and digital state.
