Residents of Zaporizhia and the region are urged to prepare for possible power outages in the winter. This was stated during a telethon by the head of the Zaporizhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
When asked by the host about the future of electricity supply in Zaporizhia and the controlled territories, Fedorov noted that residents should be prepared for the fact that there may be no electricity at all. “Maybe we don’t like it. But let’s prepare for the worst. If it gets better, it will be great,” he emphasized.
He also noted that there may be problems with the centralized power supply to the water pumping stations, so residents should take care of backup power sources. “We have to make a double backup. Install one generator and a second one,” Fedorov explained.
Regarding heat supply, he said that it is planned to install cogeneration units in all large boiler houses in Zaporizhia and the region, in particular in Vilniansk. The first of them will be operational in December. “Why is there a delay? Because there is a huge demand for cogeneration units in Ukraine, and no production in the world can cover these needs,” he noted.
Fedorov also reported that Ukraine is turning to partners for help in purchasing cogeneration units. “Our partners are financing us, and on November 15 the first units will be in Zaporizhia. The connection will take up to a month,” he added.
In conclusion, he noted that schools and hospitals already have generators that will provide electricity for the educational process and medical services.
