In the Transcarpathian region, detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security reported suspicions against the head of the research institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and her accomplice, the head of a grain warehouse. The investigation established that the officials, abusing their official positions, organized the embezzlement of state-owned grain.
According to law enforcement officials, 140 tons of millet and 160 tons of soybeans were illegally removed from the warehouse. As a result, the state suffered losses of almost UAH 1.9 million.
The defendants were informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – embezzlement of another's property through abuse of official position, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, on a particularly large scale, during the period of martial law.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway. The issue of choosing preventive measures for the suspects is being resolved.
