A large-scale embezzlement of funds was uncovered in the Rivne region, in which the head of a post office in the Zarichne village was found to be involved. The woman organized a scheme to steal state funds, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of citizens, mostly pensioners.
According to law enforcement officials, the woman first forged official documents on pension payments, taking over funds worth over 600,000 hryvnias. After being exposed and removed from her position, she did not stop - under the pretext of helping post office employees, she regained access to financial flows.
Using the same scheme again, the criminal embezzled another 1.1 million hryvnias. The total amount of stolen funds reached 2 million 633 thousand hryvnias. Among the victims were more than 350 people, most of whom were elderly people who relied on pension and social benefits.
During the pre-trial investigation, the woman partially compensated for the damages, returning 600 thousand hryvnias. The rest of the amount must be compensated from the arrested property of the accused.
The case has been referred to court. Law enforcement officers classify the woman's actions as forgery of documents and misappropriation of funds through abuse of official position on a particularly large scale.
