Head of "Forests of Ukraine" may return to work despite criminal proceedings

Yuriy Bolokhovets, the head of the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", is back at large. According to sources, on September 9, 2025, bail was paid for him in the amount of UAH 9.1 million. This became possible after the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail amount by ten times.

At the end of July, the court decided to take Bolokhovets into custody in the case of illegal enrichment. At that time, they determined the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 91 million. However, at the end of last week, the Supreme Court of Ukraine significantly reduced its amount to UAH 9.1 million, which effectively opened the way for the official's release from custody.

Yuriy Bolokhovets was born in 1982 in the village of Ivangorod, Ichnyanskyi district, Chernihiv region. In 2005, he graduated from the National Agrarian University, majoring in forestry engineering.

He worked in the structures of the Ministry of Ecology, as the director of several forestry enterprises in the Chernihiv region, in particular "Prylutsky" and "Nizhynsky". In 2020, he headed the regional department of forestry and hunting, and the following year he became the head of the State Forestry Agency.

In 2023, Bolokhovets was appointed director of the newly created State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine", which concentrated the management of state forestry enterprises.

According to the declarations, in 2016–2022, Bolokhovets' salary ranged from UAH 15,500 to UAH 39,600 per month. Already as the director of "Forests of Ukraine" in 2023, he received UAH 127,931 per month.

Bolokhovets can now return to his duties, although criminal proceedings against him are ongoing. Suspicions of illegal enrichment remain valid, and further decisions in the case will be made by the court.
