Today, Ukrainians celebrate several important events and holidays, including Territorial Defense Day, Teacher's Day, and the day of memory of the holy martyr Kharityna. In addition, on this day, the world is reminded of the importance of fighting meningitis and blesses the fishing fleet.

Territorial Defense Day of Ukraine

This holiday is dedicated to the defenders who stand guard over the security of the state. Territorial defense has gained special importance after 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea and began hostilities in Donbas. Since then, the Territorial Defense units have become an integral part of the country's defense capabilities, and with the beginning of a full-scale war, a symbol of the courage and self-sacrifice of the Ukrainian people.

Teacher's Day - gratitude to those who teach and educate

October 5 is also celebrated in Ukraine as Teachers' Day, which coincides with World Teachers' Day. The holiday was initiated by UNESCO and the International Labor Organization in 1994. The purpose of this day is to honor the work of teachers who shape the future and to draw attention to the conditions of their work.

Day of the Holy Martyr Haritina

The Orthodox Church commemorates the memory of the holy martyr Charitina on this day. She was born around 287 in the Pontic region, remained an orphan, but was raised in a pious environment. During the persecution of Christians under the emperor Diocletian, Charitina did not renounce her faith, for which she suffered terrible torture and died. Her image became an example of unshakable faith and spiritual strength.
