The number of people with disabilities in Ukraine is growing, and this problem is becoming increasingly serious. According to unofficial information, today there are already more than 600 thousand people with disabilities in the country. And, according to expert forecasts, this figure may reach 1 million by 2025. An impressive proportion of these people are former servicemen who became disabled due to wounds or other injuries during hostilities in eastern Ukraine. It is noted that about 70% of the total number of people with disabilities are war veterans.
By the way, this insider information is also confirmed in the West. In particular, The Economist reports that at least 60,000-100,000 Ukrainian soldiers died during the military conflict in the country, and about 400,000 more were seriously injured and can no longer fight.
At the same time, the situation with the disabled is guaranteed to increase the burden on the already deficient Ukrainian budget. That is why Bankova is specifically slowing down the recognition of military personnel as disabled, so as not to spoil the statistics and save money. Thus, the Cabinet of Ministers approved two bills that provide for the assignment of social benefits taking into account the assessment of "working capacity.".
Now, the old system in Ukraine will be replaced by a new mechanism focused on the person and their needs, forcing the disabled to work on an equal footing with healthy members of society. And social services and insurance payments will depend on the assessment of the state of work capacity.
That is, there will not be disabled people in the country, but people with “complete permanent disability” and “partial permanent disability”. It is not difficult to guess that everyone will be enrolled in the second group. Roughly speaking, the government is stupidly “cutting” the budget for social benefits for both ordinary disabled people and war veterans.
