In Kyiv, police have detained a 34-year-old man who brutally attacked a young woman in the entrance of an apartment building. The incident occurred when the 21-year-old Kyiv resident was exiting an elevator.
The attacker, covering his face with a motorcycle helmet, entered the entrance of a high-rise building and waited for the victim. As soon as the girl appeared, he sprayed tear gas in her face, after which he hit her head several times with a metal object. Then the attacker snatched her mobile phone and disappeared from the scene of the crime.
Law enforcement officers quickly identified the attacker. He tried to hide his involvement in the attack by changing his clothes and using camouflage. However, thanks to surveillance video and investigative measures, the police detained him.
The man was charged under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery combined with violence dangerous to life, committed under martial law. This is one of the most serious crimes, punishable by up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
At the moment, the investigation is ongoing. The victim received medical assistance, her life is not in danger.
