In Kyiv, an official of Kyivspetstrans PJSC was reported on suspicion of official negligence, which, according to the investigation, led to the mass creation of illegal landfills and damage to the state in the amount of about 2.5 billion hryvnias. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
According to police, the municipal enterprise had been transporting large-sized, construction and other household waste outside the official landfill for a long time. The waste was stored on agricultural lands, in green areas and other communal areas belonging to the territorial community of the capital.
The investigation established that the responsible official had a duty to monitor compliance with environmental standards, but failed to ensure proper waste management, which led to the contamination of more than 12 hectares of land.
According to the results of forensic examinations, large-scale pollution caused significant damage to the environment and the city's budget.
Due to the fact of official negligence, the head of the enterprise was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
The investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, with the participation of SBU employees and Kyiv police units.
