New restrictions on electricity consumption will come into effect in Ukraine on Monday, February 10. For now, they will only apply to businesses and industrial enterprises and will last from 06:00 to 21:00. This was announced by Ukrenergo, explaining this by the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
The main reason for the restrictions was damage to energy facilities due to massive missile and drone attacks. Energy workers are actively working to restore the damaged facilities, but for now the system requires additional load regulation.
The new rules will not affect residential consumers. The outages are planned exclusively for businesses and industrial enterprises. Ukrenergo also emphasized that the scope and timing of the restrictions may change throughout the day.
Recommendations for consumers
- Energy experts urge Ukrainians to consume electricity economically.
- It is advised not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.
- It is recommended to follow updates on the official pages of local regional energy companies.
The last mass power outage in Ukraine occurred on February 7, when emergency schedules were applied in eight regions, mainly for industry. Despite the pessimistic forecasts of some “experts,” the country managed to get through the winter months without mass power outages for the population.
Ukraine's power system continues to demonstrate resilience, although the fight against the consequences of hostile attacks continues. The return of restrictions for business is a temporary step that will stabilize the situation until the completion of repair work.
