A Ukrainian manufacturer of electronic warfare equipment under the Contra Drone brand has found itself at the center of a high-profile scandal. According to the Joker channel, the company is using cryptocurrency to launder funds received from government contracts.
This concerns the individual entrepreneur Andriy Yakovchuk and Fly-Group Ukraine LLC, co-owned by Kyiv resident Tymofiy Yurkov and Yakovchuk himself from the city of Netishyn. The authorized capital of the company, which regularly wins tenders from the Ministry of Defense and law enforcement agencies, is only a few thousand hryvnias. At the same time, Yurkov, like Yakovchuk, has his own individual entrepreneur.
According to sources, Yakovchuk actively participates in the procurement of electronic warfare equipment for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and funds from contracts are withdrawn through controlled individual entrepreneurs to a number of crypto wallets.
The financial flows are impressive: according to documents, Yakovchuk's family spent 1 million UAH on vacation in Europe, and another 932 thousand UAH on trips abroad.
Despite the company's modest official figures, its activities are closely linked to defense procurement, and the amounts of government contracts reach millions of hryvnias. The use of cryptocurrencies in such schemes makes it difficult to track the movement of funds and opens up opportunities for hiding the ultimate beneficiaries.
The situation raises questions not only about the transparency of spending budget money during the war, but also about the effectiveness of control by law enforcement agencies, which should prevent such abuses.
