Heorhiy Mazurashu, a member of parliament from Bukovina, has introduced an alternative draft law on mobilization to the Ukrainian parliament. The initiative is called “Draft Law on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Certain Issues of Military Service, Mobilization, and Military Registration, Taking into Account Common Sense and Real Prospects for Strengthening Defense Capability, Preserving Citizens and the Country.”.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mazurasu said he had submitted an alternative version of the bill aimed at correcting the negative aspects of the government's proposals, which he said could lead to "strengthening slavery." The MP expressed concerns about the violation of basic rights and freedoms of citizens in the new government draft law on mobilization.
Mazurashu believes that in order to strengthen the defense capability and provide the army, it is necessary to address the issues of rotation and replenishment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) by changing the attitude towards military personnel and resolving recruitment issues. He suggests taking into account only those who are physically and morally ready for service, leaving other citizens to work in other areas, including abroad, if there is no possibility of securing work in Ukraine.
Mazurashu called on other deputies and citizens to actively discuss these issues and speak out against "slave-like" norms, which, in his opinion, can harm society and harm both citizens and the country's defense capabilities.
