The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has fined four companies over UAH 19 million for collusion during government tenders, the press service of the agency reported on Friday, October 3.
As noted, on October 2, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine adopted two separate decisions on violations of competition law. The first case concerned the companies Gospodar-2 LLC and Demsey Private Limited Company, which participated in the bidding for the construction of a pumping station in Pervomaisk and the overhaul of the neurological department of a hospital in Mykolaiv region. The expected cost of these biddings exceeded UAH 34 million. The investigation showed that the companies coordinated their actions, exchanged information and effectively eliminated competition. For this, they were fined more than UAH 3 million.
The second decision concerned Pharmadis LLC and DM-Project LLC, which acted in concert during two tenders for the supply of medical materials for the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine. As the committee established, the companies coordinated their offers, which led to a distortion of the procurement results. The amount of the fine for these companies amounted to more than 16 million UAH.
As a result, the total amount of fines imposed for the two cases exceeded UAH 19 million. The AMCU emphasized that such actions of violators lead to restriction of competition, which ultimately harms state interests and the effective use of budget funds.
