Teachers who are on military service will not be subject to mobilization, as in previous years. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during Question Hour to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada.
The issue of mobilizing educators was raised by MPs, who drew attention to the fact that in different territorial recruitment centers (TRCs), teachers are booked for different periods — some for six months, some for only three. This has raised concerns among teachers that they may lose their deferral and be mobilized during the summer holidays.
The Prime Minister reassured educators: "Like last year and the year before, we will, of course, not lose any teachers or lecturers. All these things are controlled by the government. Everything will be fine.".
Who is entitled to a deferral?
According to current legislation, the following are entitled to a deferral:
-
full-time or dual-study students, provided they have obtained a higher level of education than the one already available;
-
pedagogical and scientific staff who have a relevant degree and work in an educational institution at a rate of at least 0.75.
The postponement is granted for a specified period and is subject to renewal after the end of the action. The Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes that the situation with the reservation of educators is under constant control, and there will be no mass mobilization of teachers.
